Australia Day Antics

I got into the full swing of Australia Day by falling asleep in front of the cricket. I wasn't really aware of how massive it is over here, it makes St. Paddy's look insignificant. Everybody goes out for 'breakfast' and stays out till they fall over.

I was however, still smarting from not finding a Haggis for the far more important day previous - Burns' Birthday. But my voice fell on deaf ears. Only now do I realise the full potential of those Haggis Hunting Whistles I've scoffed at so many times.

Mandy was working, so our friends and close neighbours Aaron and Theresa invited me over for a game of poker and a few stubbies. We discovered that neither of us are very good at poker, which only added to the tension.

Mandy eventually finished work and popped in to witness the 'Deadwood' style stand-off between a desperate man (me) and the saloon owner (Aaron). Which ultimately ended when the local sheriff (i.e. Lennox, their 2 yr old) decided it should.

Anyway more importantly, it was mine and Mandy's anniversary. So hooray for us.

Please feel free to comment on Mandy's 'daggy' headgear.
